Product Design & Development

My initial goal for this course was to learn the development process of a product (i.e. Manufacturing, the design process, etc.). I did not know what to expect going into this course but I did know I was excited to start the course and knew I would learn valuable information. What I did learn was how the lean startup process works and the right way to go about starting a business. Without this course I would have possibly failed trying to develop a product or service. The content learned in this course gives me an upper hand from those who has not taken such a course who wants to build a startup because they may not do the correct necessary first few steps when starting a business. For those who do not know what a lean startup is, look below:

According to theleanstartup.com (n.d.), “The Lean Startup provides a scientific approach to creating and managing startups and get a desired product to customers’ hands faster. The Lean Startup method teaches you how to drive a startup-how to steer, when to turn, and when to persevere-and grow a business with maximum acceleration. It is a principled approach to new product development.”

I am in the business planning phase of starting my company and will not rush into launching like most companies do. I will keep a steady pace (but fast steady pace) and do every step needed to succeed. I want to involve some customers in this process because I want to know that they trust I can develop products and services that will benefit them. Customers are the very important piece to any business. Everything I learned in this course will be applied in my life personally and professional. As mentioned above I must get the customers involved and keep them involved.

Intention Statement

My intention for my mastery journey as I progress through my courses at Full Sail University is to take everything I learn in my courses and apply it to everything I do outside of school. My goal is to become a Serial Entrepreneur (own more than one business). While studying in school I will create a business plan for my business. Doing this while still in school will give me the ability to update and make changes as I progress throughout my courses. As my courses will become more intense and challenge me for the next 12 months, it will also challenge me as a professional and businesses woman. That being because my assignments will prepare me for the real world of being an Entrepreneur, it will give me insight on how things should be and how to make my first move into that lifestyle. Although it will not be easy, and it will keep me up all day and night, the important things is using the current resources I have to chase the very dream I think about everyday. Before taking my Personal Development course I didn’t really understand what it meant to become mastery. It’s deeper than just being a leader. it’s understanding what you are capable of as a person, your ability to go after something you really love and cherish, to see the bigger things in life, and not chasing false dreams. I will use every resource at Full Sail University (e.g. University library, etc.) in helping me create my business plan, as well as a business model. Doing both may be uncommon, but it will allow me to use my creativity and ideas for both. These next 12 months will be a challenge, but will end in great accomplishments for me and what’s to come in my future.
